About me

I have been crafting stories since 2001 and my first job in journalism. After a decade as a freelance reporter and photographer in Tokyo. I also had stints as a magazine editor and as part of the in-house content production team at Nissan HQ in Yokohama. I am fluent in Japanese.

In 2013, I moved back with my wife and our two sons to the South West of the UK, where I grew up. Since then, I’ve been working as a translator, copywriter and photographer, mostly for Japanese companies.

My photography and reporting has been published in a variety of media, from UK broadsheets to American magazines like Discover and Wired. In 2023, I completed the Copywriting Course of the College of Media and Publishing (Distinction).

I set up Story Focus in 2025 to work with more clients in the South West and around the UK.
